Eason buys Hughes and Hughes

It has been announced that Easons has acquired the license to operate the Hughes and Hughes stores at Dublin and Cork airport in Ireland.

Hughes and Hughes went into receivership specifically citing online competition as a primary cause of their demise. However, the airport outlets have always believed to have been the most profitable and therefore the most desirable acquisition targets. This represents a strong decision for Easons and is estimate to save 120 jobs at Hughes and Hughes.

The startling demise of the Hughes and Hughes chain emphasises the importance of trading online for publishers and the increasing importance of the online sales channel.

Publishing is going through a revolution in its process, supply chain and delivery mechanisms. Novena has helped many publishers already to evolve in this new climate.
